Too Much Anime This Season

Backlog is filling up, but I’m going to dedicate some time this weekend to catching up. I hate posts like this because they are like “man I’m too lazy to do anything” but with the massive amount of good anime this season, just wow.

Compared to last spring, just wow. I think Ouran and Haruhi were the only winners out of last spring that I can remember off the top of my head. This season, not only the three shounen jump shows but we’ve also got Hayate, Gurren-Lagann, Nanoha, Seirei no Moribito, and a few more we also have prospects of a few more showing up to be good.

Come on Japan, release good anime all year long, not in one big burst!

This episode was fantastic to the point that even I, the mild mannered updater of this website, was boiling over with joy and glee as I uploaded screenshots. The Burning Justice (with capital first letters for emphasis) is so thick in this show that you may need sunglasses to watch. Seriously!

This show starts off with a bang, two Ganmen (the thing that attacked in episode 1) versus Kamina and the Gurren-dan. In fighting these two Ganmen they realize that they aren’t all powerful nor are they the absolute epitome of the skill. A fine trait of a FANTASTIC series is mecha pilots who are skilled with COURAGE instead of, you know, magical plot skill that isn’t based on courage. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Screenshots (Eps 1 and 2)

Here are some screenshots from Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS episodes 1 (LQ) and 2 (MQ) since I didn’t include them earlier. They are in a kind of random order, but you should have seen the episodes anyway so meh. These are just random screens and not of like anything special:

Episode 1 Low Quality

Hayate no Gotoku Episode 2

So much anime this season, no screenshots for this one but you should be watching it anyway. In episode two of Hayate no Gotoku is of course available here. It’s without a doubt a VERY good episode and continues the epic saga of Hayate and his bid for freedom. Last time we left off Hayate used his PLOT DEVICE to catch a car in an attempt to rescue Shana I mean Nagi. She proclaimed that he would be his butler. Episode two continued from the point of him recovering from his injuries.

Overall the episode was fantastic. Not only did we get character development (Nagi is in love with Hayate for sure and Hayate is kind of clueless but not all the way) but we also got a few MASSIVE plot points taken care of. Which is kind of unusual.

Bleach Episode 121

bleach-ep-201-001.jpgbleach-ep-201-002.jpgbleach-ep-201-003.jpgbleach-ep-201-004.jpgbleach-ep-201-005.jpgbleach-ep-201-006.jpg

Bleach episode 121 is out by Dattebayo (awhile ago at that). It’s well, an amazing episode. To be honest I don’t really feel that Bleach is worthy of an essay of words on why it’s good so I’m just going to cut this short and give its rank: B+

Decent episode, lots of action, plot development, lack of filler characters, and some other stuff make it a pretty decent episode.

Hayate no Gotoku!

hayate-no-gotoku-picture-4.jpghayate-no-gotoku-picture-5.jpghayate-no-gotoku-picture-6.jpg

Hayate no Gotoku (or literally Hayate the Combat Butler or in moon language ハヤテのごとく!) is a brand new anime with Rie Kugimiya as the VA for Nagi Sanzenin or the female lead. What does this mean? Well, we pretty much have Shakugan no Shana version three. Zero no Tsukaima was considered by many to the second Shana as it’s a slice of life anime with the same VA doing the same style voice. This one will probably be alittle bit more interesting then ZnT and Shana.

So, let’s establish the facts. Keiichiro Kawaguchi is the director, who did Ginban Kaleidoscope, Great Teacher Onizuka, and Getsumen To Heiki Mina. All four of these were VERY good animes and all of them were kind of slice of life with some action put in here and there. We’ve got Rie Tanaka of Gundam fame as a maid (a kind of off cast character). My favorite, Norio Wakamoto is the kind of announcer who is also MECHAZAWA from Cromartie High School.

The all star cast is already lined up. What else does Hayate have to pull out for us? Outside of the HD raws available for us NA viewers… a lot! It’s got so far a pretty good plot, Shana’s voice, and a cast of other VA’s who are just absolutely fantastic.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Episode 2 Review

Again, excuse the lack of pictures as I’m trying to play catchup on the massive amount of backlog I have for snoozing around a few days.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS episode two is out by DGz and you can download it here. Overall a pretty decent episode however like the previous one it’s pretty slow. By pretty slow I mean… very slow. Once again it has the purpose of setting everything up (which makes this not your average magical girl show). Still though…

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS Episode 1 Review

I’m not going to include pictures for the next few entries as I want to catch up with the massive back log on all of the awesome shows out there. Anyway, if you don’t know where to download Nanoha by now then well you fail. Why? There is like a BILLION fansubers taking on Nanoha each aiming for quality.

On with the review. I found episode one of Nanoha StrikerS, the sequel to the famous Nanoha and Nanoha A to be a little… boring. Now, this isn’t a bad thing, but it wasn’t very exciting. We were introduced to two new characters and the entire episode focused around their development. Their attacks were displayed along with their ability. The fact that they aren’t very aware of their surroundings was also also include.

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann Episode 1 Review (ADTRW) (天元突破グレンラガン)

Gainax treats us once more to yet another FLCL/Robot hybrid (Diebuster anyone?). FLCL dude Hiroyuki IMAISHI (洋之) once again creates a master piece. The only thing so far we’ve reviewed of his was Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi, which got a 5/10 on the old scale. However, it must be known that he wasn’t the director except for episode three which was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

On with the review of Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann (天元突破グレンラガン) episode one. Normally people have a 3 to 5 episode test to decide if they’re going to watch something, however, Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann need no such numbers. Within the first 15 minutes if you haven’t already decided this anime isn’t for you then maybe you just don’t enjoy REALLY GOOD anime. If you watch all 30 minutes and you aren’t in love then well, I guess you didn’t like FLCL or Diebuster either.

That said,
