The Story of Saiunkoku Review

The Story of Saiunkoku (also known as Saiunkoku Monogatari, Tale of the Land of Colored Clouds, and the Tale of Saiunkoku 彩雲国物語) is a 39 episode anime that has a heavy Chinese influence and is a flowing drama the likes of which is rarely seen. Often we get a mix of Fantasy and Comedy as Genres or Fantasy and Drama, but rarely do we see a mix of Fantasy, Drama, Comedy, and Romance that is able to stick to all four genres perfectly. Saiunkoku Monogatari is one of the best drama animes to come out of Japan in awhile.

The story is very simplistic. Based on a rough Chinese style of government and architecture, all of the events in the anime happen in a fictional empire known as “Saikunkoku”. Although, you might as well call it Japan and China’s love child. It’s basically ancient China with Japanese influence mixed in. It has a governor, provinces, “great families”, ministers, and the rest of whole stereotypical Chinese Japanese government from long ago.

Code Geass EP 11 Released by GG

You can download the torrent here. You can also visit their site http://www.ggkthx.org/ and get it off of an XDCC bot or pick up the script (see the previous entry about scripts).

Code Geass Season 2 Episode 11 RAW

Click here to download the raw for episode 11 (raw as in straight from Japan without subs meaning no translation). What’s cool about raws, especially Zero-Raws (whenever they’re good rips), is that you can use the soft subs from GG to see the episode seconds after GG releases it instead of waiting in an endless bot queue or a slow torrent that has hours to go. The directions are as follows.

Download the raw and make sure it’s a good one. Zero-Raws generally will provide the best and most GG compliant however they are not always (anything with commercials is bad - real bad, you’ll have to retime the subs after each commercial break (there are 2) and that goes beyond the scope of this guide.) The raw will be out way before the subs (by usually by 10 to 18 hours) so you can have the episode ready.

Now, navigate to GG’s script directory right here. Download the script and place the RAW and the script in the same directory. Now rename both files to, for instance for episode 11, something along the lines of Code Geass Episode 11.ass and Code Geass Episode 11.avi. It doesn’t matter what you name them as long as the .ass and the .avi (the script and movie file) are named the same.

Open the movie and enjoy! If your raw is off by a few milliseconds or even one second you shouldn’t have a problem. If your raw has commercials or is off by a second then you’re going to have mistimed subs. This is the bad thing about this system. In this case I suggest rushing the bots before others do to grab the packed episode by GG, download GG via torrent, or learn how to retime the subs with ffdshow and all.

Hope this helps! For some episode spoilers click on past the jump.

Code Geass R2 Episode 1 Summary: The Day The Devil Awakes

As we have mentioned before, the return of Code Geass shows itself with the title, “Code Geass R2.” The title of episode one should speak for itself, since from the past Lelouch’s memory was replaced with a false one. Though whether the new series may be as good as the first is up to you to decide, and your choice to get a sneaky look at the summary heavily crammed with spoilers…

Be my guest. Follow the jump!

The Garden Of Sinners - Theatrical Feature 1: Fukan Fukei

The Garden Of Sinners - Theatrical Feature 1: Fukan Fukei the anime theatrical series was something that I came across by accident, but intrigued me, so I thought I’d share it with our viewers. The first chapture, ‘Fukan Fukei,’ was made 2007, but the series itself is from a story from the internet. Getting into the gritty details.

Brush up on what you can expect from this anime is the many uses of metaphors. They’re non-stop, from use of a dream or a direct literal use. For those who don’t want to go ahead and look up the meaning, “Fukan Fukei,’ it means, “A view from above.” Another used of metaphors that are expressed visually through the beginning credits. A weary butterfly following an energetic dragonfly.

As they can use these symbolical images, or messages some might start to ponder if this anime is combined with action, fantasy, supernatural, or fable. It is. This is but one of a few of their episodes.

Continue to get to know the main characters:

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny: Rengou vs. Z.A.F.T. II Review

Kidou Senshi (Mobile Suit) Gundam SEED Destiny: Rengou vs. Z.A.F.T. II Plus is a game for the Playstation 2 currently only available in the NTSC-J format (meaning Japanese only). It is a pure action/arcade style game that captivates the essence of Gundam Seed Destiny from its mecha to its characters. It has full voice acting, lots of mechas, familiar characters like Shinn, Kira, Athrun, and Mwu and a lot more.

I’ve played the game a good deal and let me tell you, it’s nearly on par with A.C.E. 2 & 3 with its action segments. The controls are fluid and the combat is easy to understand even for someone who knows nothing of Japanese. The battle system does take a few things to understand though. There is 1,000 points per battle with each suit costing a certain amount of points on its death. When you run out of points you lose the battle. You lose points by losing suits. So if you go into a battle with a grunt suit that loses 200 points on death then you’ll have 5 lives. If you go in with say Infinite Justice that costs 590 points then. Well you have two lives. You start with one unit and if you die you’ll have 490 points left. If you die again you’ll fall below 0 which is good game. CPU units will also take from your battle guage but only half the points of the unit.
