High Command Katarina is a more classy version of Bilgewater Katarina, Katarina loses the eyepatch, and gains ownership of the pirate ship! Her blades change into deep black blades, and she wears a very provocative, sexy outfit out to battle!

High Command Katarina is for those of you who don’t like the pirate theme enough to want Bilgewater Katarina, but enough to like the general theme of it. She looks beautiful in game, and this skin is honestly my favorite next to Kitty Cat Kat! (Or Kitty Kat Kat to some people!).

Red Card Katarina (Limited Edition) – 975 RP – (FIFA World Cup Soccer) June 28th 2010 – October 31st 2010

Red Card Katarina was a Limited Edition skin for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer Championships! It changed Katarina into a referee, and makes her look absolutely stunning!

Although at the moment this skin is currently unavailable, it’s certainly possible they may bring it back one day to share with all of us Katarina players again one day! It’s a very rare skin now days, and looks fantastic in game. It’s very subtle. But looks absolutely great! Let’s hope they bring it back!

Kitty Cat Kat(Limited Edition) –  975 RP – (Harrowing 2010) (October 19th 2010 – October 31st 2010)

Kitty Cat Kat (Or Kitty Kat Kat some may say!) Is my personal favorite! She looks great! And although she’s unavailable, I really hope they bring this skin back for this Halloween as well!

Kitty Cat Katarina is an absolutely gorgeous, and sticks out like a sore thumb in game. It’s an incredibly rare skin at the moment, and when someone sees you wearing this, it’s a very big shocker! Kitty Cat Kat turns Katarina into a barely clothed playboy kitty! It’s cute as a button, and I really hope they bring this skin back again!

Sandstorm Katarina! Latest edition to her skins, you can tell she’s looking rather hot in the sand storm.

Group Gathering

Group gathering works when players in a group gather all at the same time. The way it works is if one person in the group succeeds, then it succeeds for the entire group. This is a great way to get lower proficiency allies materials and level up their skill rather quickly.

Gathering Buffs

There are five different buffs that you’ll gain from gathering:

1. Gathering Courage – 5 Stamina, 20 Minute Duration, Stacks up to 3 Times
2. Gathering Knowledge - 10 Gathering Proficiency, 5 Minute Duration, Stacks up to 4 Times
3. Gathering Life – Heals 0.5% of Max HP every 3 seconds, 10 Minute Duration, Stacks up to 3 Times
4. Gathering Spirit – Regeneration 0.5% of max MP every 3 seconds, 10 Minute Duration, Stacks up to 3 Times
5. Gathering Speed – Increases Movement Speed in Combat by 2, 10 Minute Duration, Stacks up to 3 Times

Leveling Gathering

The best way to level your gathering proficiency is simply by gathering. There isn’t some secret crazy path to follow on each map, it’s all common sense stuff. Get your gathering up while you’re on the newbie island and then from there branch out and keep gathering when you can. As you can see the buffs are insane, so leveling up gathering shouldn’t be tough as long as you work to keep gathering buffs up as much as possible.

Gathering Skill Levels

Krymetal, Sun Essence, and Verda Plants are your first thing you’ll gather and they are all over the place and will take you to skill level 101. After that, when you reach Celestial Hills, you’ll start gathering the next tier, and so on.

Tier 1 is 0 – 101
Tier 2 is 101 – 151
Tier 3 is 151 – 201
Tier 4 is 201 – 251

That leaves the random pack and the army pack. The army pack is going to be your best overall buy, simply because it contains 4x speed cards, scout cards, army cards, peasant cards (which can be turned into villagers), and weapon production cards. The normal pack is a huge gamble, it contains the rare cards (monk cards, merchant speed, village completion, research breakthrough, etc.) but you could also end up with a pull that’s nothing but wooden walls and banquet goods.

There is some simple math to follow if your goal is to swap the cards in. If you buy the 10 crown packs and hope to pull the card you need, you will pay .60 cents a pack.. The 8 crown packs come out somewhere around .50 a pack. You will receive five cards, each one is worth roughly .10 a card or .12 cents a card. 25 points will then be worth .50 cents or .60 cents depending if you use 8 or 10 crown card packs.

In more realistic / easier to understand terms:

240 Crowns is $14.99 (let’s say $15.00) on Amazon

24 packs of 5 cards at 10 crowns a pack

30 packs of 5 cards at 8 crowns a pack

You will receive a minimum of 600 swap points for the 10 crown packs and a minimum of 750 for the 8 crown packs. Each swap point is then effectively .025 cents vs. .02 cents. You will always snag a bonus, you’ll have more chances at a bonus with the 8 crown packs BUT you will not have a chance at the car you’re aiming for.

So you’ll have to make up your mind, if you were going to buy $15.00 worth of crowns, you’ll have to decide between 150 more swap points or a chance at the card you’re wanting to buy.

Trading Post “Scams”

As you can see, 63 copper is the vendor price, there are 248 listings with the lowest at 64 copper. Listing fee is 3 copper. So, you’ll lose 2 copper on the transaction. For pieces worth more, the listing fee is higher and let’s not forget the TP takes a cut! You’ll make 55 copper on an item you could sell for 63 copper. You can use the TP Calc to figure out what profit you’ll make on the trading post.

Nuts, isn’t it? You have to be careful and double check before you list, because on top of that you’ll have to wait for your item to sell. This same principle applies to items for sale on the Trading Post. No one can list for less than vendor, so everything for sale is above vendor price.

Now on the buying side of things, be on the lookout for chests. They’ll be chests and loot bags for sale, but the return might not be what you think. An exotic chest may give you rares and well, that leather skin you bought may be worth way less than the result – so do your research before gambling.

Other Scams in GW2

Of course, scams aren’t just contained in the trading post. Watch out for map chat and the offers – always compare on the TP. There is no reason to sell an item on the map chat unless you’re wanting to cut the Trading Post out of it and EVEN THEN, there is NO SECURE WAY right now to trade, so you can be taken very easily (both buying and selling). So buyer/sell beware! Just list it on the TP, it’s actually cross-server, so you’ll have way more customers than the 100 or so people in Lion’s Arch.

The other standard advice applies – if it’s too good to be true, it is. So don’t fall for too big of a bargain and be careful “flipping” on the TP, you may buy a ton of items and there may be no interest in them, test the waters before you commit.

Melee is magical, in the sense that you have to be good at it to get the most from it. That’s why in World of Warcraft you’ll see hunter after hunter in the BG, but that one warrior is the one top on the kill charts. Ranged classes / professions take fun and excitement, but give-up real power. Anyway, I’m rambling. The key point that we’re to discuss is the warrior vs. the guardian and which one you should play when the game launches.

Warriors focus on “burst damage” or “spike damage.” Like the original Guild Wars, they bash their weapons into an enemy, building up adrenaline, then unleashing it for a massive attack, that should bypass any prospective healing / shielding. With the lack of dedicated healers, this is makes taking someone out rather easy. They also have a ton of support abilities in the form of shouts and banners, along with being able to equip pretty much every weapon in the game.

Guardians focus on “virtue” which is the fancy magical way of saying “signets.” They get three free signets (regeneration, aegis every 45 seconds, and burning every 5th attack) and can trade that passive bonus in for an active one. Most of the guardians damage comes from, insert punch line, defending. While their damage / burst output is lower, they survive longer, meaning that they can either get up where no one else can and smash faces in or stand around defending critical points in structured PvP and laughing at the weaklings as they try to knock them off the point.

Which one should you play? That’s a great question. If you want to do damage – go warrior. Yes, they can tank, but they are not as effective as a guardian or necromancer at doing it. If you want to do support – go guardian. Actually, if you want to be a tank or a healer, even if those mechanics don’t exist, go guardian. Sure virtues are boring and most of the abilities involve blocking damage, but you’ll be able to run around not dying, healing allies, and defending stuff.

If you want to bash faces in, then, well, warrior is the thing to be. Their burst damage will make sure you cash in on that last hit in WvW and get you points in structured PvP.

My biggest complaints are that the entire series can’t live up to the original, but standing on its own, it is one of the best shows airing on western TV (well, for cartoons that is). The original Avatar was epic, three seasons that kept you glued to each episode, while Korra is more mature and more “grown up.” First, Korra for the most part is a teenager, no longer just a child like Aang was, Korra is nearly an adult.

With her being an adult comes a change in the way character relationships work. Aang and Katara were a childhood friendship that turned into a relationship throughout the series. Aang himself was confused at what love was or how love felt as the show matured and their personal relationship was rarely the source of the plot, with the exception of when Aang met the Guru.

Korra, on the other hand, is straight in the middle of a love triangle. Bolin loves Korra, Korra loves Mako, Mako loves Korra and Asami, and Asami loves Mako. The parts that discuss the relationships of the individual characters do help to flesh out their backstories more, but also takes away from the plot, which moved at a snails pace throughout the first season.

Not to avoid spoilers, but you basically have six episodes that attempt to give you an idea of what’s going on, five episodes that create a world in trouble for the Avatar to eventually save, and the final episode to bring closure to the first season. What I find interesting is that they made it where the first season wraps up the entire plot line that started in episode one. As in, when the second season starts, they’ll need to start fresh at creating trouble for the Avatar to take on. I find that to be interesting, because the series should have enough “this is going to get a second season” momentum to not make it where they need to contain the first season in its own separate world. In the first series, they wrapped up the major plot points, but didn’t finish the fire lord until season 3.

Again, though, that’s comparing it to the original series, which was a different monster. The first series for pure fantasy, no mechanical elements were introduced until much later when Aang arrives at the air temple with the firebenders who were living there. The second series is full on steam punk, with electricity, cars, airships, and of course goggles. Lots and lots of goggles. The change of direction for the art is interesting, but I liked it when the characters were more restricted in the ways that they fought, instead of an ever escalating technological advantage for the enemies. Of course, we’re also dealing with the “avatar” who should, by all means, be better than having to fight some mechanization.

Overall, the second series is rather fulfilling and rather interesting and lives somewhat true to the original. However, I don’t find it to be as good, simply because it’s a sequel and sequels have a difficult time living up to the legacy of the series before them.

One thing I’d like to note, Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise (available at Amazon or your local comic book store) is a great way to go from series 1 to series 2. I wish they had finished the trilogy before the second series started (it’s ongoing as of writing this), but it does provide some insight on how the world went from four nations, to four nations and a neutral city state.

I. Gathering

Gathering is one of the most important parts of leveling Alchemy, you’re going to want to gather Plants, Ores, and Essences for Alchemy. So any time you see a node, get it! Most people think that Essences are for Alchemy, Plants are for Tailoring, and Ores are for Weaponsmithing, but Alchemy requires all three!

Where is the best place to farm materials for Alchemy?

The best place that I have found to farm tier 1 materials for alchemy is Northeast and Northwest of the Mysterious Ruins part of the Island of Dawn. The best way to go about this is to go to a low population channel with no competition, and continue running back and forth between Northeast and Northwest. The reason that this place is so great is that it is filled to the brim with materials, yet the monsters never attack you, and there’s hardly any competition! Great huh?

II. Alchemy Crafting

The best way to go about this is to gather lots of materials before you start. Once you have all of your materials on hand, make sure that you have an abundance of gold if you are a low level character, because the materials from the vendor is going to cost a ton. I think that 30 gold is a good starting place, so that you don’t overspend and have money trouble in other parts of the game.

Leveling up Alchemy

Leveling up Alchemy is pretty straightforward, you’re going to want to stick with converting raw materials into refined materials from 1-250, because until you hit 250 you can level up a crafting skill using solely raw materials that you’ve acquired during your questing. for Alchemy these are Krymetal Ore -> Krymetal Ingot, Verdra Fiber -> Verdracloth, and Sunessence -> Deosilex etc etc. This is the best way to level up all tradeskills from 1-250.

Nope. I viewed a few episodes and I almost got sick from how they stretched it out. It was almost if you forced an aspect ratio change. Let me tell you, I love Gundam SEED, but I don’t love seeing Mwu’s face stretched across the entire screen. There are some really good remasters that either redraw the entire anime or remaster it properly (Dragonball Z Kai) while others that just totally destroy it. In this case, they did a horrible job. Now, when I say horrible, I mean it’s still okay, but there are times you’ll have a double take when someone’s face is too long or too big.

Now, aspect ratio aside, they have been doing a fantastic job of touching up the quality. The original was, of course, produced in 2002 when post processing was limited to maybe clearing it up a bit. In this case, the colors are a lot more vibrant and the overall anime is clean. That doesn’t help, of course, when someone’s face is distorted from the horrible stretching.

Let’s best honest though, this is Gundam and the point of Gundam is to, of course, sell toys. They’ve got the molds and the toys, so reairing the series and touching it up a bit drums up interest in Strike Freedom kits and action figures. That’s the point of Gundam and will always be the point, and Gundam SEED as as series suffered horribly from it. Considering that the original X105 Strike unit had AILE STRIKE, SWORD STRIKE, LAUNCHER STRIKE, and a few others is just proof positive that they were going for the toys hard and fast. I don’t remember if Gundam 00 suffered from such obvious toy marketing, but yeah.

That’s pretty much it. If you’ve got the old Gundam SEED DVDs then don’t bother with the remastered version. Whenever they launch it here in the states and, if you’re a hardcore fan, consider picking it up on BLU-Ray, but otherwise don’t bother. The quality is much better and cleaner, but the aspect ratio switch is dizzying and off-putting.

Master Yi

Keeper of the ancient art of Wuju, Master Yi is a mystical warrior from the isle of Ionia. He descended from one of the few tribes dedicated to the preservation of Wuju, a martial art founded with the principles of absolute spiritual awareness of one’s self and one’s enemy. When the armies of Noxus invaded Ionia, Master Yi joined in the Ionian defense to fight the craven enemy, bringing his village honor through his unparalleled mastery of the blade. The ensuing battles ravaged the land, but no conflict inflicted as much horror as the day the armies of Noxus closed in on Yi’s village. Left undefended, the village became the unfortunate test subject of the latest invention by an up-and-coming chemist, now known as Singed. The remains of the village that Master Yi returned to were so horrific that it remains a festering scar on Ionian history. To this day, no Ionian will ever publicly speak of what occurred.

After the Noxian invasion was contained, Master Yi fell into a deep isolation. For years, he trained morning to night, speaking to no one and refusing offers of consolation by fellow Ionians. The only thing stopping him from madly charging into Noxus battle lines headfirst was his pledge to keep the Wuju style alive. Even though he seethed with impatience, his rage became a tool for sharpening his practice of Wuju, developing stronger and deadlier skills for his eventual vengeance. The only thing that roused him was news of the League’s formation, and Noxus’s subsequent enrollment in the League. Master Yi now brings his mastery of the blade to the League of Legends with unflinching purpose: to avenge his kinfolk and end the predations of the Noxus once and for all.

Why do I believe Master Yi is one of the Most Overpowered League of Legends Champions?

Master Yi is the most overpowered League of Legends champion when fed. He is a complete powerhouse that almost no champion can 1v1 without severe consequences, and if left alone in a team fight, will literally wreck your entire team before you know it. Master Yi’s damage is unparalleled for a melee carry. And with the amount of mobility and survive-ability this guy has 1 on 1, you’ll be farming the other team very early in the game if you play him right!

What’s so special about Master Yi?

The big deciding factor of Master Yi is his unique trait. Master Yi’s cooldowns are completely reset whenever he kills a champion, and when he gets an assist his cooldowns are halved. This means that you can continue killing champions every time you kill one with completely fresh cooldowns. If you get fed early game, there is literally no stopping you, and quadra/penta-kills will be common for you. You also have Double Strike. Which causes every 7th attack you do to strike twice! It will even work on crits!

What other cool abilities does Master Yi have?

Master Yi can dash around the battlefield very quickly, and can also heal himself very effectively with his heal, that grants him most of his health and increases his armor and magic resist by a wopping 300 at rank 1! He can also ignore slows with his Highlander spell. Causing you to be able to speed up to your enemy with ease!

What is Master Yi’s downfall?

The downfall of Master Yi is that he’s very squishy in team fights, doesn’t have much health until you grab some pretty pricey items, and is vulnerable to disables. But once you get past those, he really has no other downfalls. He’s one of the strongest melee characters in the game.

Veigar

To most, thoughts of yordles do not conjure images to be feared. The easygoing half-pint race, though fierce, is often regarded with some degree of joviality. Their high-pitched voices and naturally cute forms inspire something of a protective instinct in the larger races, or at least bring to mind images of children playing at being adults. Every now and again, however, a yordle turns so bad that, even at its small stature, it strikes terror into the hearts of others. Veigar is such a twisted yordle. As a master of the magical black arts, as well as a corrupter of cosmic energy, he is one of the most powerful sorcerers on Valoran.
As a child, Veigar was a normal yordle with one small exception – he had a deep curiosity for the world beyond Bandle City. The young yordle spent much of his time studying the rest of Valoran, and he jumped at the chance to join a business that traded with other major city-states. Unfortunately for both him and the world, a deal with Noxian traders turned into shady business and went bad; Veigar and his companions were subsequently set up to take the fall. Arrested by the authorities, he was imprisoned within the walls of Noxus for years. Such isolation is very dangerous for yordles – undoubtedly why his cruel jailers did such a thing – and Veigar was slowly driven mad.
He eventually escaped, having become a twisted version of his former self. Instead of returning to his people and Bandle City, he sought tutelage from dark wizards across the land. With his demented will focused on one task, he quickly became a dangerous and powerful wizard in his own right. Now he seeks to end all conflict on Valoran by bringing all of the city-states to their knees, regardless of their affiliation. The League of Legends is the perfect tool to help him meet his ends – for now.

Why do I believe Veigar is one of the Most Overpowered League of Legends Champions?

Veigar has a very interesting play-style compared to the other characters in League of Legends. which is why I believe he’s one of the most overpowered League of Legends champions. His combo is exceptionally deadly, and if played right, he deals the most burst damage of all of the champions, and he’s ranged! 

What’s so special about Veigar?

The big deciding factor of Veigar is his unique trait. He gains 1 Ability Power each time he kills an enemy with his “Q” spell. (It can be a Creep, a Champion, or a Neutral Monster.) Additionally, he gains +1(Rank 1) +2(Rank 2) etc etc extra ability power each time he kills a Champion from ANY source of damage. This ability power can add up very quick, and is completely free.

What other cool abilities does Veigar have?

Veigar also has an area-of-effect stun spell. And an area-of-effect nuke spell. His ultimate is pure raw damage. This guy can pump out enough damage in the duration of a stun to kill almost ANY champion in League of Legends. He’s exceptionally powerful when played right and with the right team members backing you up.

What is Veigar’s downfall?

The downfall of Veigar is that he’s very squishy when not properly protected by team members early game. He can be very quickly burst down if you’re not careful with him. He can only burst one person down at a time, so when it’s 2v1 and you’re the 1 it’s best to stay away from the fight.
