How to Raise a Dragon Mini-Guide

How to Raise a Dragon is perhaps the best / worst game ever, except it’s not and it’s pretty terrible. Essentially here is how it plays off. It’s an 8-bit game is art concotion that establishes the life of a dragon up until its or the heroes defeat. There are four life stages, baby, adolescence, adult, and hero.

Alright so what does all of this mean? Well it means there is a card for about a week, an easy badge, and a medium badge. Start the game off with by hitting left or right arrow keys and break out of the egg then keep going until you hit adolescence. A wizard will eventually capture you.

At adolescence the game starts. If you eat so much life, fire, or nature you’ll gain that “breath”. Each breath has 2 behaviors (2 things they do like grow trees/restore crops), then there is a none. Eat things in the castle (like fire for fire breath) to unlock that ability then use it to escape. Life on the wizard at top, nature on the far left, and fire on the hay. You can also choose none but going into the sewers and leaving that way. The bheaviors are triggered as follows:

  1. Fertile: Use it only on fertile grounds only.
  2. Fertile: Use plant breath on everything.
  3. Fire: Burn Everything
  4. Fire: Burn just the trees
  5. Life: Heal everyone who is injured, but not the dead.
  6. Life: Revive everyone.
  7. None: Rampage around on everything.
  8. None: Do nothing

There is actually 8, but you only need 7 for the badge.

If you’re having a hard time finding fire, there is acancel in the bottom room, a fire in the fireplace, a fire on the top right room, and a candle in the colorful room.

Anyway, once you leave you have two resting spots: on the castle and on the cliffe and then you’re the hero. The hero can do a few things, bring gifts to the dragon (money/flower) or kill the dragon. The title you get depends on how the dragon behaved and what you do to the dragon. One is for killing the dragon, one is for dying to the dragon, one is for befriending a good dragon, another is for befriending a bad ragon, then the last is to shoot the dragon 14 times, get hit twice, then shoot one last time to die with the dragon.

Really the game doesn’t deserve badges, it’s lame and stupid. It’s short and tries to convey some kind of artistic message but that’s not fun. It’s a simple grind fest with no ability or consquence other than wasting more time should you mess up one of the behaviors.

Badges are badges though, at least that’s how some people view it.
