You can use forest, cave and castle resting place to gain random stats (strength, wisdom, constitution, dexterity). Warrior at the very beginning is good, but mage is way better when you get better weapons and equipment for mage. But way latter on, warrior is a better choice because the general store doesn't sell mage gear. When you start, get constitution stuff and stuff that gives building materials as cash isn't that important as you can get it through work. At the very beginning, get 2 barracks or mage tower and 1 central garden. Then train as much as possible till you think you can pwn the guys in a dungeon.

Every 5 times you do a job you get the bonus stat.
There is a limit to the amount of times you can do each job to get stat bonuses
Once the proficiency is 100 you can do it a few more times.
Starting the count at a job proficiency of 94.5 you can get 10 more stat bonus’s from work.
So once the Proficiency is over 100 you can get 10 more points.
Each week you get 2.1 job experience. Every 5 weeks you have a total of 10.5 experience.
After 9 bonus’s you will have a proficiency of 94.5 thus having a total of 19 bonus’s (may have a miscount about the over 100 stat bonus’s. May be a total of 20 instead)

Here is the stat bonus’s for each type of job.

Sweeper – dexterity
Babysitter – wisdom
Rat Catch – Strength
Labourer – Constitution
Scribe - Intelligence
Squire – Charisma
Nurse - Wisdom
Builder - Strength
Tailoring - Dexterity
Smith – Constitution
Hunter – Wisdom
Librarian - Intelligence
Musician - Charisma
Apprentice - Wisdom
Politician - Charisma
Warden - Constitution
Banker - Intelligence
Guard - Strength
Ninja - Dexterity
Trainer - Wisdom

---School---
For Schooling, it is also every 5 weeks that you spend on training the skill you will earn the stat bonus.

Here is a list of what each type of schooling/training does.

Combat Training - Strength
Magic Training - Intelligence
Noble Court - Charisma
Doctoring 101 - Wisdom
Strategic Ideals - Intelligence
Smith’s Studies - Strength (Also allows you to create an item using your crafting skills)
Stitching School - Dexterity (Also allows you to create a cloth item)
Architecture - Wisdom
Beggar’s Guild - Dexterity
Beautiful Barding - Charisma
Mixed Combat - Constitution (May also give other stats but I believe its only constitution)
Personal Study - Constitution, Strength, Charisma, Intelligence, Wisdom (Varies, After the first 5 weeks you will gain a random stat every 3rd week. Unsure if these are all the stat)
