Looks like my site fell off the Internet. Apparently changing CMSs was way more hardcore then I thought it would be. I’ve gone from having the #1 position for Orange-kun to not even showing up on google for ANYTHING. Isn’t that awesome? The switch from Drupal which created a bazillion unnecessary URLs hit me with about 110 404 indexed pages.
In a way, I expected this, even skipping the really nifty way of doing the month/day/post title way and just going for /postname/ for the clean URLs. Since Drupal appends /feed/ to nearly every possible URL along with creating a large amount of trash URLs which are more feeds for different node types and feeds for different ways of listing and oh man.
I’d personally write Google an apology for this, for switching the CMSs and causing them to get 100 404s within the site, but I’m sure it’d be ignored and I’ll still be nowhere on the listings. That’s cool though, considering that traffic went from 50 people a day to 15. I’m pretty much back to where I started long ago. Working my way up the ladder will be another interesting experience, considering from some rumors I hear it takes up to a year for google to like you again.
For those that aren’t in the “know”, your pagerank is affected by the following:
- Mutual Links
- Magic
Magic is the important part, because you need to be a wizard to understand it all.
With the spring season coming up, I’m hoping my work does get better appreciated by being the first reporting in on a few new anime series. Although, I’m unsure if Google will like me by summer. Wacky Google…
