Here is a quick top 10 list of things I’ve heard or would like to hear shouted in anime.

GATTAI!
Gattai is Japanese for combine or something. Who knows or who cares. Just know when you hear it that some robots are going to crash into one another and it’s going to be awesome.

PUT YOUR GUNS ON!
As with any anime whenever a new phrase is introduced it’s always on top of your mind. Sengoku Basara gives us this amazing phrase.

ARE YOUUU READDDYY?!
Best said in Engrish, this one is is used a lot. Sengoku Basara again reminds us of it.

THIS <INSERT MANLY OBJECT OR BODY PART> IS GLOWING WITH <INSERT FORM OF AWESOME POWER>

<rambling> FIST <rambling>
Anytime there is the word fist involved in a sentence it has to be good.

This was a flag design that won the Telegraph’s online poll for adding the welsh dragon to the Union Jack. Winning by a complete landslide the Gurren Lagann flaming skull logo officially won one of the U.K.’s largest media source’s online polls for the newest flag to represent the union. The irony is thick, since Gurren Lagann is all about the union.

Of course the majority of the votes for the flag were nothing more than Japan voicing it’s opinion on what the holy empire of Britannia should use for their flag. I ponder if Lelouch ever takes over Britannia if he’d consider flying such an honorable flag?

Here is an artist’s rendition of Kamina enjoying some of Europe’s fine coffee.

Exactly. If you want to read more (including the awesome ZnT flag) go to the telegraph.

It was announced that in two years we’ll have a Gurren-Lagann spin-off (likely a second season of Gurren-Lagann that follows someone else’s story).

These details were also released:

Viral is a shark with some feline properties.

Simon and Nia were not virgins.

Adiane used to play beach volleyball with Nia.

TTGL was in Super Spiral Space and really wasn’t throwing galaxies around.

Drill is nothing more then a symbol for “soul”.

Nia is the biological daughter of Genome and wasn’t culled from one of the camps.

Simon is the strongest spiral warrior in the universe.

The glasses were in honor of both Kittan and Kamina.

Nia and Simon stayed together a week after their return, before the wedding.

Nia is the thinnest girl in Gurren Lagann (what otaku asked this stupid question).

There is probably more, but that’s the important stuff. So a possible second season will be within two years. Hooray! I guess. The mediocre ending still is blah though.

Gurren Lagann Episode 25 just aired and I have to say the episode was so fantastic that not even Diebuster or Gunbuster or hell Dancouga can touch Gurren Lagann anymore. GaoGaiGar may stand a chance still if the ending doesn’t turn out to be any good but it is looking like it wont have a chance.

As a spoilerless review I will just say 15 manly burning passion robots out of 5. That awesome.

Spoilers/Preview after the jump.

The Internet can barely contain the awesome that is this episode. It starts out slow like every episode of Gurren almost and is mostly the crew trying to figure out how to get out of the ocean or whatever they are in. They then find some kind of mega anti-spiral machine that is sucking all their spiral energy and pulling them in to be destroyed by massive pressure. They fire missiles at it but they’re destroyed. They then fire one of Gurren-Lagann’s drills at it but it is also destroyed.

All the while the anti-spirals push the Cathedral Terra downward. Kittan and Yoko launch and take care of them but they’re unable to generate enough spiral energy to thrust out of it. Boota shows up and apparently he has spiral energy so that he can charge the lower pilots seat while Viral (who lacks spiral energy) pilots.

When the launched spear fails Kittan launches in the King Kittan and attacks. His missile launchers crush and he’s unable to do anything and explodes. In manly fashion he returns in the original King Kittan (minus the space armor) and takes one of the Gurren-Lagann’s drills and does a KING KITTAN GIGA-DRILL BREAKER and destroys the device.

The spiral energy returns back to the ship (since it absorbed it, it released it when destroyed) which then allows for the transformation. The Gurren-Lagann appears out of the water with its arms crossed ala Gunbuster as one of the largest mechas in history. The episode ends.

In the preview we see them fighting with manly power.

Pure amazing.

Episode 24 has been aired and subbed by either ADTRW or BSS by now. If you haven't see it, get out there and get it. Seriously, Gurren Lagann 24 is amazing and there is little to no reason to not watch it.

Episode 24 has been aired and subbed by either ADTRW or BSS by now. If you haven’t see it, get out there and get it. Seriously, Gurren Lagann 24 is amazing and there is little to no reason to not watch it.

That said, the following will contain spoilers. Read more after the jump.

So Gurren Lagann 24 takes us to where we are finally fighting the end bad guys. Three more episodes are left and Captain Garlock has finally shown himself for real. However, this leaves a few problems.

Episode 24 causes the death of abunch of unknown Ganmen (or Gunmen) pilots. No one really cares about them and a lot of time was spent on their deaths. Which, I have to say, was badass as hell but didn’t have much feeling. The death of the brothers was insane though. Even if they didn’t have much screen time it was still very sad to see them go.

The episode, outside of the deaths, causes a few bits of concern. We know now that 25 will be basically the massive transformation into the ultimate Gurren-Lagann form. Their giant space fortress will be turning into what we assume is the thing from long ago.

However that just consumes episode 25. Episode 26 and 27 of course will be the final battles and we have to assume episode 26 and probably half of 27 will be the actual fight while the other half of 27 will be the conclusion. Is it possible to have a decent conclusion without going to a second season?

If we remember from the prologue… you will notice that that the ship is different. Simon is the same age but the enemies are the dimensional government and not the anti-spirals. However, they appear to be on the humanoid form of their current ship. The question is simple:

Will the prologue be episode 26s start or will it be the end of episode 27? Gurren-Lagann isn’t the epitome of popularity in Japan, but it’s popular enough that Gainax may afford a second season or if nothing else just leave the ending open.

The only things that really concern me is what appears to be Simon’s first mate. He isn’t shown up yet and many assumed that he is either Rossiu or Boota/Rossiu fusion. He looks like Rossiu but Rossiu is currently on Earth. Who is he and where does he come from? Is he just a random filler character we’ve all been trying to figure out?

Assuming a second season isn’t in the eyes of Gainax, can we have a good conclusion with three episodes left and one of them a struggle match to transform their current ship into another form of Gurren-Lagann? Will we have a conclusion good enough to satisfy our undying love of Gurren-Lagann? Will Simon rescue Nia or will Simon sacrifice himself to save the universe and Nia (classic cliche).

The only thing we can do is wait and see. Newtype published some more spoilers but I don’t think I’m going to read them. I’m just going to believe in Simon who believes in me and hope that this fantastic series gets the ending it deserves.

The raw is out along with the details that is episode 24. Go below the jump to read a few spoilers before the episode is subbed.

It appears that the following happens:

The episode starts with them in anti-spiral space.

The anti-spirals decimate the Grapels, the “Gunmen” or Ganmen are pretty much the only things that can fight them.

The Ganmen are overwhelmed, the ship is barely able to defeat all of the enemies, Gurren-Lagann isn’t powerful enough. The enemies look very interesting. They have shields.

Gurren-Lagann inside the Arc Gurren tries to unload spiral energy into the Cathedra Terra or whatever the big ass ship is for a transformation.

The entire Gurren Brigade is thrown into some new dimension.

Stop now if you don’t want to cry.

The brothers give up their life for the Gurren Brigade.

Looks like we’ll have subs soon, they’re currently being timed from what I hear.

As with any preview, there are spoilers (read only to be spoiled) and I don’t know very much Japanese so take for that what you will. The actual preview is after the jump.

The show starts out with a mini-recap. This goes over where everything is at. Then we move on to the Rossiu arc. Honestly I want to write a lot about what went on, but it was mostly talking. I imagine this wraps up the story with Rossiu, anyway he tries to kill himself. Simon and his girlfriendish kinda person freaks and they go to where he is. They activate a spiral warp system to get straight to Rossiu and slap him upside the head just like Kamina did to Simon.

Then, well, more words and everyone gets on the new ship. Rossiu continues to run things on the planet, they warp the moon back into orbit (the Spiral King actually hid it), then Simon is given a new flag. He flies across the planet waving it, takes off to space, then docks the Gurren Lagann into the giant ship we seen last episode. It docks and acts as the throne. Everyone gets ready and they blast off, to space.

This wraps the last arc up and starts the next. The preview showed tons of action.

I don’t advise watching this one raw, there is just too many words and without understanding Japanese it’d be tough to figure out whats going on.
